The Process Of Our Soap Poster
Step 2: We then decided that we wanted to add a photo of Kareem and let the background 'shine' through his body. We wanted to keep the poster simple but give very subtle messages about the storyline.
The Process Of Our Soap Poster
Different photos we took to use for our poster and magazine
We took various photographs for our magazine and poster, using different perspectives of Kareem and how he's portrayed through a camera, in these selected images we see images of his close mate Skyvez located in different part of the images in some of the photos, we showed this through the depth of field created in the image, sometimes Skyvez is in a shallow focus and some of times he's in a deep focus, this was deliberately portrayed as we wanted to show Kareem thoughts of Skyvez, one of the images where Kareem is looking over his shoulder as if he's in a state of paranoia as if he doesn't trust him even though they're meant to be partners in crime. One of the other images we see Kareem giving a sinister look to the camera with Kareem giving him a 'dirty look'. We had 2 individual photos of Kareem, we created a contrast between these 2 photos with one of him dressed in a deceiving way and another in a casual, notice he is looking towards his right which projects him to be looking at a new way of life because in Islam we have a way of saying that the right hand side is the good side. We had a couple photos of Skyvez with him again in one of them looking to his side and we also played with lighting to show the level of darkness and lightness on the face. One image in particular that was an accident but we thought it would work was the one in Kareem in the light having Skyvez in darkness slightly seeing his face which visualised a mysterious image. Overall we created a theme with our pictures showing the different views of Kareem, Eventually we decided for the poster that the shot of Kareem on the side was perfect. We arranged these pictures in a studio with a selection of lights which gave that professional finish to our photos.
Week 7 of filming and editing:
Today we filmed a new drug scene, we filmed a scene with a new actor playing the character of Jamal (Kareem's brother), we also filmed a scene with Kareem and Ameera in a good relationship so it can show a contrast when Kareem changes. We edited all the scenes, we took some of the scenes out and added new ones in. We added a Kareem voiceover to help narrate the storyline from his perspective aswel.
Week 6 of filming and editing:
After receiving our audience feedback, we decided to change some of the things that were mentioned. We went did some filming of drug scenes to help contradict Kareems good side. We edited it and it fitted in perfectly with the rest of the scenes, however our teacher thought it was too explicit. Instead he suggested that we should add a more subtle drug scene that suggests involvement in drugs. Alsp we decided that we should add a scene where we see Kareem and Ameera's relationship when it was going well.

Audience Feedback On Rough Cut
After uploading our rough cut on our blog we asked our audience for had feedback on what we can improve and, change and cut out. Our audience admired the pace of our soap trailer and the music which they thought matches well with our them. They stated that the storyline was clear, however they pointed out that the use of one actor playing two characters did not make sense. Our audience have told us they understand what's going on in the soap trailer but this has to be more specified as we don't see the badside of Kareem as much, various people have told us how we need to make this clear, irrelevant scenes need to be cut off as they're is no need for them, suggestions on different perspectives and angles of shots portraying Kareems two sides e.g Kareem putting away his prayer mat and pulling out something negative like drugs or a weapon, this will give the audience an insight of who Kareem really is by contradicting the two sides of his life. The character's dialogue in the soap trailer must be more clearer as in some of the scenes we don't get an understanding of what they're saying due to loud music. Overall the soap trailer is understandable, the music is goes perfectly with what's happening, storyline is clear but needs more detail. Our opinion is we need more effects in the soap trailer, editing needs to be tidied up along with lighting, our target is to experiment more with our editing and see the final outcome.
We decided to take this feedback out of our target audience boundaries and one of the group members Shihab Miah decided to show a family relative to see their reactions of the rough cut. Majority of feedback received were in general positive the feedback received were 'This trailer is actually quite good, i mean i would definitely watch this if this came up on TV, bearing in mind that it is a rough cut this can be made just perfect once it is finally edited'. This is the brief comment made by a family relative from an older generation from 30 - 35 this could allow us to extend out target market.

Inspired Imagery - Split Personality
Inspired Imagery, an image that an artist produced with a splitting of a face, the artist was inspired by "Split Personality". We found this interseting as it represented the same theme of our soap and persona of our main character.
