Poster Final

This is the final Poster for our trailer 'Kareem'

Evaluation slides

This is the opening slide to show the audience what I am going to show them which is a evaluation of our trailer that we created. Every slide has a background colour and image which allows us the audience to stay connected with the audience at all times. All pages also have a company logo which is located at the bottom right of the slides which also allows a sense of brand identity to be portrayed to  audience.
This slide kicks with questions that i have been asked so that i can consider deep evaluation when answering this and also the audience will know what i am answering when they see the next couple slides. This slide also has a logo and a coloured background which represent the colours used for our characters in the trailer.
In this slide we decided to show different camera shots that we used in the trailer. This is to mainly show the audience what we tried to do with these common camera shots. There are pictures from the scenes of our scenes and influential camera shots which helped establish our shots.

This slide is a connect to the one above showing another shot that we used in our trailer and the influential shot from eastenders.

Another slide that we have created is Costumes another way to answer the question that we have had early on. We decided to show start of by individually highlighting the main characters of our trailer and showing the influential characters from different films, for Kareem we got our costume influence from the character Shifty.

This is another costume influence that we have put on the evaluation showing our character 'Skyves' and his costume influence who is 'Flash' from the film 1 day. Each slide also includes a description of what i am talking about.

For Ameera we have got her influential costume from Ameera from eastenders. Since her style is similar to hers. The casual clothing they both like to wear.

This slide starts of with the locations and the comparison with other Drama's that we think we got influenced which is West 10 ldn.
This is a connect to the slide above showing the location comparison and influence.
This slide show the lighting facilities that we have used. We used a natural feel.
This slide we wanted to show the audience the props that we had used in our trailer.
This slide is to answer the influence for the Dialogue which is taken from Adulthood.
This sound briefly outlines why we used this soundtrack and what type also. We used a hip hop instrumental so that it can match the urban theme that we had to stick to.
This slide now shows the character influence and we can see the comparisons on each of the main characters in the next few slides.

The narrative slide shows that we have stuck to the conventions of a soap.
We have also created a separate slide for question number 2 so that the audience know what we are answering and not leave them confused.
This slide shows the comparison between our Final magazine piece and a professional soap magazine by soap life.
This slide compares the our final poster with the poster for the TV drama West 10 Ldn and the comparison of  them both.
This slides shows all of our final pieces so that we can compare the different ways in which we have shown and stuck to the brand identity.
This slide shows the next question that we are about to answer.
This slide holds a brief description of what our audience felt was right of wrong.
This is the main feedback that we have received from our audience. Which is essential to fix up otherwise it doesn't seem clear enough to the audience.
The Final question on the evaluation slides that we had to answer.
This slide states bullet points of programs and technology we used for different stages of the portfolio overall.
This slide shows the blogger that we used for the research and planning stage.
This slide individually goes in to answering how the blogger was used.
This slide is about final cut pro and an image of how the program looks like and the slide below shows the hardware equipment that we used.

Week 10: Improvement and Evaluating

This week we focused on improving the blog and adding things we forgot about and putting things in order.
We have began our evaluation using Powerpoint which we have transfered onto final cut pro to edit voiceover and slides so it can make sense and so we can successfully add screen grabs. We finished creating our slides, we included screen captures of videos showing how we created certain parts of our product using technology. We created our own urban themed backgrounds for our presentation as part of our brand identity. In our evaluation they'res tutorials of how we used final cut pro to create split screens, filters etc. We also show how we use motion to create our motifs and blogger.

Gritty Effect on trailer

During the editing phase, to give the trailer an urban gritty feel the editor had decided to give all the scenes an overall gritty feel to it. This was done by using the video filter 'Luca's Image adjust [lite) on Final cut pro. This had allowed the editor to create a feel in which stays in connection with the brand identity which will allow the audience to feel the genre that is being portrayed. In order for us to get this urban gritty feel we had used this filter to change the colour for instance the clips were placed with an increase of shadow & highlight which gives it a darker feel and also lighten & saturate had been taken off completely which allowed the scenes to come out looking gritty and give it that urban feel.

To keep our evaluation connected with our brand identity of our products and TV channel, we decided to make individual backgrounds running through our evaluation keeping it clear that we've linked everything together, the individual motifs that we created on motion for each character had a colour scheme to represent the person, we've chosen iconic backgrounds for these individual images, blocks of the Warwick Estate, the helicopter view of the Gherkin and other buildings and a typical London subway.

Our Final Channel Ident

After uploading our channel Ident we decided we wanted to make it look more like a 3-D TV screen, We had done this by adding content to the existing logo. We had made the TV screen look more edgy and curved so that it looks like a 3D TV. It also gives the logo a sense of realism as if we are actually watching it. The Text used had become much more thicker so that it is clear and people recognise this logo every time they see it.

In general i think that this is in keeping with our brand identity as because this channel ident refers to the genre of our trailer and also it portrays us as a group too. We specialise in people who live in the urban world the TV itself can connate being 'Poor' most people who live in urban areas often come from a background who have financial issues. Also the crack in the middle of the screen fits in with our brand identity too because it suggest people who may live in the urban world but with two lives, this side of a person's life is shown in our soap 'Kareem'.

Week 9:

This week we focused on creating our poster and magazine. We used In design to create the magazine as we had to add lots of different texts. For the magazine we used photoshop, we wanted an arabic/english font that wasn't available on photoshop sowe downloaded the font from the internet and added it to the poster to write our soap title. We created two posters and chose the one that does not follow conventions as we felt it would be more effective and mysterious as it only gives subtle but persuasive suggestions about the soap and makes you want to know more about it as the poster doesn't give too much information. These have also been uploaded on our blog.

Motion for Ameera

We created this motif of Ameera on Motion. We decided to choose different colours for each character. We chose green for Ameera to symbolize envy, red for Kareem to symbolize danger and blue to represent Skyvez's male nature and violent behaviour. The purpose of these motifs is to make the audience familiar with the character's names and relationships in the soap. The motifs are presented after a few quick shots of them in the trailer. We only did three Motifs of the three main characters, however there are other characters included in the soap.

Motion for skyves

We wanted colour to symbolize the different character's personaliities. For Kareem we used red which symbolizes death, danger, evil, hell, love and much more. For Ameera we used a green colour which suggests envy and for Skyvez we used a blue/black and white colour to represent his masculinity, the black and white part suggests being caught on CCTV, this reflects on his criminal history.

Motion for Kareem in trailer

This is the Motif that we created for our main character Kareem. This motif has been inspired by the title of the 'Real hustle' where all the characters are being introduced and there are stills of each character, this is to help the audience get a sense of what the characters personalities are like and what they are about. We thought it would give our audience better insight into the main characters through the soap trailer , helping them to understand the storyline in a more creative way. Also we didnt want to show the motifs all at once so instead we spread them out and let each one come after a couple shots of them in the trailer. We as a group think that the Motif idea works really well but audience feedback will strongly back up our thoughts of it working.

Adobe InDesign CS5- Final design

After looking at what people had to say about the First draft which was incomplete, we had taken all the feedback into consideration and have come up with the final product which is partly shown in the screen grab. I think personally that this Magazine meets the conventions of an actual soap Magazine front cover, this is mainly due to because of the feedback that we had received and also looking a Soap magazine has helped us to see the different conventions used.

Adobe InDesign CS5- Creating the Magazine Front Cover

This is a screen grab of our Magazine and the process of creating it. We will now show this to the audience so that they can give us Initial feedback on what improvements and things that they may want to see on this magazine. In order for us to create this Magazine we had a look at an official Soap magazine so that we can get a rough idea of the conventions and layout that is used. Above in the screen grab shows the start that we have made for our Magazine, there will be great changes after the feedback has been taken into consideration.

Week 8 of filming and editing:

This week we finished edited our final soap trailer as we edited all the new scenes and added them as a replacement for the scenes we cut out.We shortened the driving car scene, took out some of the meeting and greeting scenes and added more scenes that show the contrast between the the two sides of Kareem's personality and lifestyle using split scenes of juxtaposing behaviour like praying and selling drugs. We also added a voiceover so we can have Kareem's view as he doesn't speak much and the soap is set from his perspective therfore it would make more sense for the main character to give his point of view. We also added call of prayer at the beginning of the soap when Kareem is praying to give that spiritual feel. We also uploaded it on to blogspot.

PhotoShop Screen Shot - Draft 1 Poster

This is a draft of one of the 3 posters we produced, we really started experimenting with the filters on Photoshop to shape our image, this didn't really work although it was an effective image, with a typical london underground tube station in the back with 'Kareem' looking at 'Sykez' in a negative way with 'Sykez' giving an evil look straight to the camera lense. As we produced 3 posters another reason why this didn't work is because Kareem is the main objective in the Soap and in this image he's the background.

PhotoShop Screen Shot - Final Poster

We used Photoshop, some of the key things we used to present our poster was a landscape image of London with Kareem still being the main focus, adding texts that gave a clue about what our soap was about, for example our font for Kareem having that arabic edge to it, giving the audience a clear insight of where and when it will be shown with our brand identity in the corner representing us as a whole. We used a number of layers and experimented with textures, font, contrast and brightness until we got our final result.

Poster Draft 1

This is another poster we created on Photoshop, however we didn't feel as though it worked as much as our main one. The main character is not in focus and the way it is structured doesn't work well. However it does have an urban theme to it.

The Process of creating our Channel Ident

We uploaded our channel ident onto photoshop and altered it from there. We changed the font of the text and enhanced the black colour to make it stand out. We went over the crack and changed the background to make the TV logo appear more 3D.

The Process Of Our Soap Poster

Step 3: Finally we adeed a black background and text about when the soap will be broadcasted. We added a shade of red on the title 'kareem' just as we did in his Motiff to represent his character which symbolizes danger, evil etc. We also included our Tv Channel Ident so that the audience can be familiar with it.

The Process Of Our Soap Poster

Step 2: We then decided that we wanted to add a photo of Kareem and let the background 'shine' through his body. We wanted to keep the poster simple but give very subtle messages about the storyline.

The Process Of Our Soap Poster

Step 1: We created our Soap Poster using Photoshop. We used a image of London as a first layer which will show through Kareem's 'transparent' body. This was made to symbolize that Kareem is set in Central London. It also represents Kareem as a character who grew up in the streets of London.

Different photos we took to use for our poster and magazine

We took various photographs for our magazine and poster, using different perspectives of Kareem and how he's portrayed through a camera, in these selected images we see images of his close mate Skyvez located in different part of the images in some of the photos, we showed this through the depth of field created in the image, sometimes Skyvez is in a shallow focus and some of times he's in a deep focus, this was deliberately portrayed as we wanted to show Kareem thoughts of Skyvez, one of the images where Kareem is looking over his shoulder as if he's in a state of paranoia as if he doesn't trust him even though they're meant to be partners in crime. One of the other images we see Kareem giving a sinister look to the camera with Kareem giving him a 'dirty look'. We had 2 individual photos of Kareem, we created a contrast between these 2 photos with one of him dressed in a deceiving way and another in a casual, notice he is looking towards his right which projects him to be looking at a new way of life because in Islam we have a way of saying that the right hand side is the good side. We had a couple photos of Skyvez with him again in one of them looking  to his side and we also played with lighting to show the level of darkness and lightness on the face. One image in particular that was an accident but we thought it would work was the one in Kareem in the light having Skyvez in darkness slightly seeing his face which visualised a mysterious image. Overall we created a theme with our pictures showing the different views of Kareem, Eventually we decided for the poster that the shot of Kareem on the side was perfect. We arranged these pictures in a studio with a selection of lights which gave that professional finish to our photos.
