WEEK 4 OF RESEARCH AND PLANNING:

This week we decided that even though we have our main target audience. We would also like a wider audience that come from different backgrounds and communities. However we realised after writing up our script this week that there will be a downside to this as we use slang/colloquial language in our soap that people other than 'Urban Peeps' probably wouldn't understand. So we created a colloquial/Formal Dictionary to help the viewers understand the meaning of certain words used in the soap. We hope this will help people outside our target audience to not feel as though they are an outcast.

  1. • Organise blog posts so they follow a chronological order.

    • Must have a completed storyboard animatic & script.

    • Soap overview needs to be more detailed- name some of the key characters and discuss what they are like (personality, situation, lifestyle, costume etc) and why you have chose to have this type of character in your soap. Also have detail on specific, regular locations that you will have in your soap, why and which of these you are showing in your trailer.

    • It would be useful to have specific character inspiration for your main characters, with images and an outline of what inspired you (eg. Luther for Kareem etc)

    • Your trailer synopsis need to be much more detailed, offering a full account of what we are going to see and how we are going to see it, commenting on style, pace, music, anything distinctive etc, as well as justifying the storylines that you will be highlighting; how are these reflective of your soap overall?

    • Must be more explicit when looking at conventions used in soap trailers, posters & magazines. Make sure you add at least a paragraph that focuses on summarising how the trailer you are analysing follows/subverts common conventions. (such as use of music, pace, single or multiple narratives, linear or non-linear structure, hyper-dramatised, surreal or self-parody in terms of style -eg Eastenders Roxy & Peggy ones). Also make sure that you have an image or embedded link for every one of your analyses.

    • Need to have images of costumes, props & locations, all with reasons for your choices.

    • Must have a draft of your magazine front cover uploaded, and explain both poster & magazine in depth. Use terms and justify reasons why you are creating it in this way, and highlighting what conventions you are following- go through each element of your poster and front cover Link to the brand identity that you are trying to create.

    • In your outline of your trailer, answer the following: What do you want the content & style to be like? How do you want to represent your soap in the trailer? What kind of effect on the audience do you hope to achieve?

•You need to add more images (locations, costume, props, finished channel ident, character influences etc
